DOORS

Le porte mi sono sempre piaciute e ogni tanto, via, via, le fotografavo. In questi ultimi anni l’occhio è rimasto come attratto dalle porte e dai portoni. Vivendo in una città storica come Lucca, ad ogni viuzza vi è una porta unica e diversa dalle altre. Pian piano ho iniziato a fotografare più assiduamente, porte e portoni, a tutte le ore del giorno coi raggi del sole che facevano un gioco di luce e senza. Porte colorate o scolorite dal sole, adornate di fiori o di edera. Di animali o di bici. Con muri scalcinati. Anzi più erano scalcinati e più mi piacevano. Anche le porte, più il legno era rovinato, arso dal sole e più mi piaceva. Le porte chiuse mi piacevano più di quelle aperte. Le porte chiuse lasciano adito alla fantasia. Immagini la vita al di là di quella porta chiusa. Chi abita quella casa o quel palazzo. Oppure chi lo ha abitato. Immagini i passi dei bambini che hanno attraversato quelle porte, o dei vecchi che non c’abitano più.


I've always liked doors and every now and then, by chance, by chance I photographed them. In recent years, however, the eye has remained as if attracted to doors and gates. Then living in a historic city like Lucca, there was a door in every alley that struck me. Gradually I began to photograph more assiduously, doors and gates, at all hours of the day, with the sun's rays making a play of light and without. Doors colored or discolored by the sun, adorned with flowers or ivy. Of animals or bikes. With crumbling walls. In fact, the more shabby they were, the more I liked them. Even the doors, the more the wood was damaged, burned by the sun, the more I liked it. I liked closed doors more than open ones. Closed doors leave room for imagination. You imagine the life beyond that closed door. Who lives in that house or that building. Or who lived there. You imagine the footsteps of the children who passed through those doors, or of the old people who no longer live there.
